Soil Analysis

To fully understand the nutritional status of the soil, it is important that regular soil samples are taken and analysed. This will highlight the inherent fertility and also see if the current fertiliser practice is, over time, altering the base level of nutrients. The other factor to take into account is soil pH – not only do different species tolerate different pH levels but nutrient availability is also linked to pH.

It is important to take soil samples at the beginning of the growing season, before any nutrients are applied to the turf. This will allow for an accurate representation of the nutrient levels to be determined, allowing for an accurate nutrition plan to be developed for the forthcoming season.
