Testimonial – Crews Hill Golf Club, UK

We spoke to Nick Street, Course Manager at Crews Hill Golf Club, about his use on Indigrow products across his greens, tees and fairways. Over the last two years, Nick has increased his reliance on Indigrow products, due to the success he has achieved with them.
Seeding and Overseeding
Early in the season, overseeding takes place on the tees and fairways using Indigrow 3 grass seed. Indigrow 3 seed a 100% perennial ryegrass seed, for use on tees and fairways.
Nick uses the seed for overseeding on both his tees and fairways. He told us “we use Indigrow 3 in unfertilised areas for overseeding in both March and September. This seed germinates excellently, usually well within 7 days. With regular overseeding, we get recovery on our tees daily – which is great to cover some of the divot marks”.
Fertiliser Applications
During the season, Nick utilises applications of ImpactPlus Accelerate 14-0-12, ImpactPlus Vitalize 16-5-16 and ImpactPlus Perk 4-0-14 to his greens to maximise growth and colour. He told us that “the greens have really struggled this year with the amount of rainfall we’ve had – we had 21 straight days of rain during May – but the bio-stimulant coating on the fertilisers has really helped the turf deal with some of the waterlogging stress”.
Wetting Agents
Crews Hill Golf Club utilise wetting agents, Magnum 357 Calibre and Magnum Forty-Four OneShot to help with water management on their greens. By applying 10 lt/ha of Magnum 357 Calibre on their greens throughout the main growing season, they are able to reduce their irrigation requirements due to the triple-action wetting agent technology. They combine their use of Magnum 357 Calibre with Magnum Forty-Four OneShot at 4 sachets/ha over the winter months to help drag water through the soil profile.
The Winter Package
In the Autumn, Nick uses a tank mix of Compass Bio-Complete, Solar K, Solar Ca+Mg and Asset Chitosan during the autumn and winter months. This winter package helps to maintain turf health throughout the colder and wetter months. Nick told us “the potassium content from the Solar K helps to strengthen the plant against disease, whilst the magnesium content in the Solar Ca+Mg gives us great colour through the winter”.
Nick also informed us that in his opinion “spraying all year round is the most crucial requirement to minimising disease. It’s very important to spray over the winter. By applying the correct nutrients to the plant all year round, we’ve seen a dramatic reduction in the amount of disease on the course throughout the season”.
